Powell River Academy of Music

This pamphlet is an advertisement for the Tours Program organized by the Choral Kathaumixw Festival. It contains photographs of performances and lists countries that participants visit from. It is to entice communities in British Columbia and Washington to host performances of the visiting choirs, to give the festival participants more opportunities to travel and perform.

This pamphlet gives information about the choral history of Powell River and the schedule of the first Choral Festival Kathaumixw. It also outlines how to get information about getting to Powell River, accommodation during the festival, how to obtain the Festival Syllabus, how to obtain test pieces, where to receive a detailed program and a address for inquiries. It also includes a section about the history, industries, and beautiful nature in the town of Powell River.

This is the first written document conceiving of an international choral festival organized by the Powell River Academy of Music and hosted in Powell River. It proposes understanding, goodwill and collaboration. It also contains a planning schedule, festival schedule, and organizational structure of the people involved in its conception. The original typewritten document was lost, and now only photocopies remain.

The official program for the first International Choral Festival Kathaumixw held in Powell River in 1984. It contains messages from the town's mayor, Colin S. Palmer, and the Premier of British Columbia, Bill Bennett and lists the officials of the festival. It contains maps of the town and the festival facilities and gives a brief profile on each of the jury members. It gives a detailed account of the two stories included in the music drama performance, Jumping Mouse and Breakaway. Additionally, it give a general festival timetable as well as a detailed festival program, indicating when all events and performances will take place and who will be taking part in each performance. This item only contains the first half of the festival program from 1984.

The Festival Syllabus details the competitions that participants could enter during the first Choral Festival Kathaumixw. It gives a description of what must be performed for each competition, who can perform and what the prize monies are for the winners. It also contains rules for entry, as well as entry forms and information about accommodation, transportation and hospitality.
