Haida Elder Minnie Croft of the House of Skedans, Haida Gwaii, alongside her niece Terri-Lynn Williams give the name Haida name Kil Sli on Dr.David Strangway. Elder Minnie Croft said this about the name during the ceremony: "The name Kil Sil is a name bestowed on a person who we feel deserves a high honor" (The First Nations Longhouse: Our Home Away From Home, p.16). Dr.Strangway was also presented with the eagle ceremonial blanket, seen draped around his shoulders in the image.
