Our contribution to the preservation of the material histories of the Vietnamese Boat People is The Vietnamese Seniors Groups’ Migration Memory Collection, a collection of photographs and documents from the experiences of Vietnamese Boat People who gather at various seniors groups in Vancouver, Canada.
The collection includes photographs and documents that reveal how family and community stood at the heart of the migration experience. Beyond tracing journeys across borders, these materials show how migrants built new lives through connection, gathering with relatives, forming friendships, celebrating milestones, and reuniting across distance. Together, these records not only document these lived experiences but also illuminate how connection shaped diasporic identity and collective memory.
