The Sointula Scuttlebutt Collection contains selected issues of The Sointula Scuttlebutt, a newsletter that was produced by Malcolm Island Superior High School students in Sointula, British Columbia in 1953-1960. The collection was created in partnership with the Sointula Museum, a community organization devoted to the story of Sointula, a settlement off the tip of Northern Vancouver Island that was settled by a Finnish socialist collective in 1901. The Scuttlebutt presents a snapshot of daily life in the community in the 1950s and will be of interest to residents of Sointula, local historians, and the general public. While the collection consists of 16 newsletters that are in the collection of the museum, it is not a complete representation of the Scuttlebutt, the scope of which is unknown.
