The Oldřiška Češková Fungi Collection presents a selection of fungi specimens from the UBC Herbarium Collection at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. This Collection draws from a larger collection of Oldřiška Češková (Oluna Ceska)’s donation of dry specimens to UBC. Češková was a mycologist who was active in British Columbia and a founding member of the South Vancouver Island Mycological Society. The Collection features mushroom specimens identified, recorded, and collected by Češková, including specimens from her long-term mushroom survey of the Observatory Hill on Saanich Peninsula. The Collection highlights Češková’s documentation of mushrooms by digitizing her note cards and linking the mushrooms to their Mushroom Observer and GenBank identification. The Oldřiška Češková Fungi Collection offers a glimpse into the important work and contribution of Češková, which help expand our understanding of the richness of British Columbia species.
