"This document provides highlights of the findings from the Health and Activity Limitation Survey (HALS). The HALS survey was conducted by Statistics Canada as part of the 1986 Census to provide an in-depth profile of people with disabilities in Canada. A Closer Look focuses on demographic characteristics of people with disabilities in British Columbia. It outlines the conditions most often identified as limiting the activities of British Columbians and considers factors such as education, employment, and income which affect their livelihood and independence."
