This document is a news release by the Government of Canada regarding the Canada-New Brunswick Labour Market Development Agreement. The announcement acts on commitments made by the Government of Canada to withdraw from labour market training and seek new partnerships with the provinces and territories in labour market development. Under the agreement, New Brunswick will assume responsibility for the design and delivery of active employment benefits and measures, supported by Employment Insurance funds. A network of Canada-New Brunswick Human Resource Service Centres (HRSCs) will be established. Through these HRSCs, New Brunswickers will have access to a full range of federal and provincial labour market programs such as Employment Insurance income benefits, social assistance, employment counselling and active employment programs.
