The Johnston Family Fonds

The Johnston Family Fonds contains selected materials donated by the Johnston Family to (fictional) The Archives of Home Economics. The Family Recipes series contains 85 recipe cards, alongside one spiral notebook, a bound book, and a three-ring binder. These materials were created by Ellen Johnston (1924 - 2019) with contributions from Mrs. Johnston’s mother and daughter. Throughout the twentieth century, recipe cards were a common way to build a personal collection of favourite recipes and were often handed down through generations. Mrs. Johnston’s well-used recipe cards were inherited by her daughter, Lori Johnston.
