Hear Me Roar! SFU Women's Centre Digital Collection

The Simon Fraser University (SFU) Women's Centre Digital Collection contains selected documents produced during the early to mid-1970s that have been preserved in the Simon Fraser University Archives and Records Management Department (SFU Archives). The Collection will be of particular interest to social sciences scholars, researchers, and students seeking primary source material about feminist movements during the 1960s and 1970s in British Columbia. The Collection focuses on the first two years of the Centre: 1974 and 1975. This was a crucial period for the advancement of feminism at SFU, as the Women’s Caucus was revived, the Women’s Centre created, and the Women’s Studies programs were developed by progressive faculty members. The Collection presents primarily textual and ephemeral materials, such as typewritten essays and notes, meeting minutes, and pamphlets, in addition to select photographs and handmade posters that reflect and personify the issues and women of the Centre. Topics of Interest: • SFU Women's Centre • SFU Women's Caucus • Vancouver Women's Caucus • Abortion Caravan • Discrimination • Employment • Margaret Benston Women's Centre illustration courtesy of 'The Peak,' March 6, 1975, p.11.
