Dear Dr. Harrison,
Thank you for your letters of Aug. 17th. and Sept. 23rd. I am sorry at the delay in replying to the former.
I hope that you may be successful in securing a specimen of the White-breasted Brent Goose for me this fall.
Please do not ship the Grey Heron, the Bittern or the Tetro u. urogallus as I have nothing available to send in return for
the two former and have ample specimens of the Caper. Thanks just the same.
I am pleased that you have shipped the Rook, the British Great Spotted Woodpeckers and the Razor-billed Auk and am
looking forward to their arrival.
I trust that you have safely recieved the Hooded Merganser, the pair of Western Harlequin and the Crossbill which were
mailed last month or in the late July.
With reference to the list of available material mentioned in your letter of the 23rd. I would like the following,
Sparrow Hawk, Ad. Male only.
Spotted Redshank Adult. Breeding plumage only.
British Redshank,
Ruddy Turnstone,
Northern Dunlin,
Southern Dunlin,
Golden Plover,
Bar-tailed Godwit,
Black-tailed Grackle,
Also a pair of Velvet Scoters.
I expect to have available specimens of both Barrow's and American Goldeneye. Are you interested?
I understand that at present your wants are as follows,
Wandering Tatler,
Surf Scoters.
Amc. Bittern,
Hooded Merganser, Female.
If there are others please let me know when next you write.
In your letter of April 27.1951 you mention trouble from crude oil contamination. I find that this is easily removed with
floor solvent which all the Oil Companies handle under various trade names. For instance the Imperial Oil Co. produce
"Varsol" and costs .45c per Impl. Gal.
If you do not mind will you please tell me how you are off for certain supplies (I mean your own personal household)
such as tea, coffee and sugar as well as other items in daily use for I feel sure there must be very great shortages in
England from what friends tell me and from what I read in

[ILLEGIBLE] birds. My very good firend, the late Allan Brooks, produced a great many fine paintings [ILLEGIBLE]
relating to bird life & a large number of these were brought out over [ILLEGIBLE] by the National Geographic Society.
