Band alleges that it was coerced into surrendering ten of its reserves in 1952 for a hydro- electric project, and that the surrender is void. Band also alleges that it did not receive full compensation. Initiated by the Squamish Band in 1967, Involves 22 Bands. Lands cut off from 34 reserves in B.C. as a result of the 1920 federal B.C. Indian Land Settlement Act which authorized reduc- tions in land without Indian consent, notwithstanding the Royal Commission recom- mendations of 1916 that provided assurances that consent of the Indian would be obtained. Presented March 30/84. Band claims that DIA failed to protect its interests in obtaining additional lands through preemptions in the Referred to Reserves and Trusts, B.C. Region. Final settlement has been reached with the Pentic- ton Band (1982), Osoyoos Band (1982), Westbank Band (1983), Okanagan Band (1984), Squamish Band (1983), Clinton Band (1984), Beecher Bay Band and Chemainus Band (1984).
