Local Pastor attends assembly Bill and Linda Cook recently attended the Sth Biennial General Assem- bly of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, one of the fastest growing denominations in North America, in Saska- toon, Saskatchewan. Rev. Cook has been the pastor of the Tumbler Ridge Alliance Church _ since 1987. Delegates to General Assembly, the highest governing body, re-elected Dr. Melvin P. Sylvester to his third term in the office of president. Syl- vester is a graduate of the Canadian Bible College, the denomination’s theo- logical training centre in Regina, and has served in five pastorates. Before becoming the first president of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, Syl- vester was the District Superintendent of the Eastern and Central Ca- nadian District. Presently he is president of the _ Evangelical —- Fellowship and is a member of the Board of Directors of | World Relief Canada a- mong many others. More than 1,000 dele- gates and guests attended the Centennial Celebra- tion which included spe- of Alliance history and current ministries.
