IS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY is past weekend I floated down the ray River with a long-time trapper of e area, Bill Warn. Bill is 76 years ing; writing about Bill could fill a first met Bill last winter when he wited Derrick and me into his home in won Creek. At that time we spent about 0 hours looking at Bill's photographs id talking about his fifty years of trap- ing and guiding in this area. fiday afternoon at 4:00 I met Bill at his bin on the west shore of the Murray iver near the conveyor crossing. Bill wited Steve Saunders and mein for a cup f coffee. Later Steve drove back to mbler Ridge and Bill and I started walk- ij south parallel to the river. Bill set brisk pace and I followed. Bill never topped talking as we walked; recounting periences and pointing out trap loca- ions. After about ten miles we came to a ml] boat which we paddled across the iver to his cabin where we stayed the ight. The next morning we continued ilking south; this time along the east mre of the Murray. About noon we came » Bill's third cabin and second boat. Mother articles back to Dawson Creek, so » loaded them into the boat and paddled ‘dwn river in the warm afternoon sun, driving back at the conveyor crossing ain in the late afternoon. =_— le river ride was enjoyable and I wuldn't help thinking that we, the people yf Tumbler Ridge, are going to have many Injoyable times on the Murray. Looking at the beauty of the Murray River and Wurrounding area from this view is even ore rewarding than the daily view we have from the highway.
