Mrs. Draper when they were very sick. munity of Tumbler Ridge will be held: PAT WALSH COMES TO TOWN I interviewed Pat Walsh on Friday, February 4 at the school at lunch time. Pat can't say exactly when we will get B.C. radio but they are apply- ing to CRTC in March. It's they who will approve a radio station and then CBC will put in the faci- lity. T.V. will take longer be- cause they will have to prepare more detailed equipment. He can't say when we will get it either but it will be as soon as possible. We are also applying for a Cancom package (typist note- Canadian Anik Satellite TV). The engineering camp won't be able to control our T.V. even though they aren't in control now. The town population is now about 70 families with an estimated 500 people. The town population in a year is being estimated at 3,000. Pat Walsh doesn't know when he is moving out here. But the whole staff is moving out in June and closing the Vancouver office. Pat Walsh can't come up here until he finds a house, he says. We will be getting 2 new stores, plus Super Valu. The other two are office buildings opening in late August or September. The other stores that will be coming in about a year are a drug store, probably a video outlet, a restau- rant &office space. Another office is starting in the summer and fin- ished by Christmas. Pat Walsh's hopes and plans for Tumbler Ridge are that the com- munity will grow to 5000 in two years and that there will be a gradual change from the present aganization to an elected government His comments are that he'd like to continue the plans that have been made in 4 years developing. He hopes that we can make a town that people will be comfortable and happy in. ms
