was terrific, many people
came out to do the relay
races, see the balloon
launch and mud wrestling.

Holmes reports that in the
first six months 312,000
claims were received; rep-
resenting 32,000 or 11.4

percent more than the
same period in 1987. Bod-

ily injury claims increased .

11.2 percent and property
damage claims were up
4.8 percent. Bodily injury
claims are the most costly
to the Autoplan Fund.

“If we make the effort
to really examine our driv-
ing habits, we can drive
the accident rate down
and prevent the needless
loss of life, injuries and
property damage,”’
Holmes says.

The upward trend in
claims began in 1986. In
1987, despite frequent
warnings to motorists,
ICBC recorded the most
Autoplan claims for any

year during its 15 year
history.

Sun Fun has just com-
pleted its first two week
session with about 36 kids
involved. At Sun Fun you
can enroll children ages 6
to 12 years and their day
will be filled with activities
like arts and crafts, water-
slides, nature hikes, and
new games. The leaders
that work with the child-
ren are Moya, Toni, Tina
and Nicole.

On August 6 and 7, a
model from Victoria Von
Kane Modelling School
will be here to do a two
day modelling course.
This ‘modeling and self
improvement course will
be held at the Community
Centre and is for people
ages 11 years and up. The
course will cover posture,
fragrances, social graces,
developing your personal-
ity, grooming and skin
care, flattering make-up
application, nail care, hair
care and styling, colour
and fashion, plus model-
ling techniques and rou-
tines for a fashion show.
