MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE SFU ‘MEN'S CAUCUS HELD ON THURSDAY, MAY 23, 1974 AT 4:30 P.M. IN TRE UCB SEMINAR ROOM Chairperson: Linda Hourie 1. Next /pel About 25 people attended this open meeting with Dana Janssen. Dana announced that the University Services Department had apreed to provide the cost of air fare for her trip to Toronto for the 3rd annual Conference of Women in Uni- versities and Colleges. The Conference runs from May 31 to June 2 and the theme will be "Beginning Action". Participants will include faculty, staff and stu- dents. Following the Conference, Dana will travel to Ottawa to meet with Pauline Jewett and discuss the status of women at Simon Fraser. Contrary to the minutes of the last meeting, the Caucus decided to submit a tentative budget to the Student Society immediately, in order to be funded through the Clubs program and to provide Dana with further funds for the trip to Toronto. Fate Braid and Pat Lambert prepared the budget, and a report on the progress with the Student Society will be made on May 30. Suggestions on curriculum plannins for the Committee on Women's Studies programs should be piven to Erich Burkle. Also, Honore Newcomb is helping to prepare a proposal for a program in Women's Studies for Dean Brown of Interdisciplinary Studies by next month. Hopefully, we will be able to offer a Minor in Women's Studies in the near future. Plans for the party at Reva's will be put off until Dana can let us know when she can make it. Pana will let Ruth know, and Puth will advise theCaucus through the phoning tree. Because of the problems with paper proliferation on campus, it was agreed that, whenever possible, the Caucus would stick to using one notice only, on the Caucus Bulletin Board near the main Cafeteria. Linda Hourie also suggested that we take down any outdated notices and discard them or take them to a recycling depot. Linda also suggested that any letters signed "SFU Women's Caucus" be approved by the Caucus as a whole. Committee was struck to formulate aims and objective for the SFU Women's Caucus.
