She works for uintette and she helps us. e have just asked Derrick DeMelt to ign up because the town is growing uickly and we needed some help. errick DeMelt was born in Scheffer- ille, Quebec. His age is 13 and he's in grade 8. His hobbies are dog racing nd he enjoys sports. Derrick has lived in many places such as Clinton lreek, Grande Cache, and Fort McMurray. le was one of the first permanent Tumbler idge students, starting school at the lant Site. lark Stock WR. WILSON, PRINCIPAL TUMBLER RIDGE SCHOOL lr. Wilson came from Wellington, New Zea- land. His wife's name is Margaret. fiona is the older of his two children and Erin is the younger. lr. Wilson took his teaching training in New Zealand. Other places he has taught are in Richmond, Invermere, and Port Alice, B.C. hat he likes best about Tumbler Ridge is the people, the newness of the place and the whole business of starting some- thing new. M. Stock JPDATE ON TUMBLER RIDGE SCHOOL The school population is now 73 and it is expected to be 120 by Easter. The new trailers that are coming in are going to be used for grades 8, 9, and 10 subjects like lab, home ed, and regular subjects. This makes all the classes spread out more evenly and puts the high school kids together. The only new staff is Mrs. Hartford and the school is not getting any more new staff at the moment. The new school is going to be built right where the skating rink is now. They are starting it on April first! In the new school there is only going to be elementary. They are building another school for secondary. M. Stock TUMBLER RIDGE POST OFFICE The Tumbler Ridge Post Office has been open since December 20, 1982, serving Tumbler Ridge residents with good prices and fairly fast delivery. . | The price for a letter to be mailed First Class in Canada is 32¢, the price for a letter to be mailed to USA is 37¢, and internationally is 6L¢. The Tumbler Ridge Post Office's hours are well suited to the peoples’ needs as it is open 10 AM till 4 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It is open 11:30 AM - 3:30 and 6PM - 8 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The regular length of delivery is 3 to 7 days although this may vary slightly. Mrs. Peters is Tumbler Ridge Post- Mistress. Derrick DeMelt SHELL STATION OPENS The Tumbler Ridge Shell Service Station has opened for business. It is open from 8 AM - 8 PM with these times being expected to change in future months to 7 AM- 11 PM. The gas is being sold between 43¢ and 45¢ a litre; this price is not permanent.
