HERMANN Executive Vice President, Denison Mines & Quintette Coal Q : What does the title,Executive Vice President really mean? ANS: It means Quintette has a pres- ident and Mr. Hermann is second-in- command. Q : What places and projects have you worked on? ANS: The places and projects he has worked on are Kitimat, working with aluminium and in New Zealand working with aluminium. He's worked in the Tar Sands in Alberta, iron ore in Australia, and he's worked on several power plants in the USA and Canada. Q : Does Denison have any other projects in mind? Ans: Yes, the Coalspur in Alberta, they will be mining thermal coal, the Belcourt project, and the Saxon project. There are some other properties in Alber- ta where they will be mining metallur- gical coal. Denison has lots of properties that aren't coal properties like the potash one in New Brunswick and uranium in Australia and gas and oil in Spain and Greece. MR. HERMANN, CONT'D Q : Where did the name Quintette come from? ANS: There was a mountain in the area called Quintette and it was a major topographical feature. Here are the percentages of Quin- tette owned by the Japanese: 38% and the percentage owned by Den- ison Mines: 50% and the percentage owned by a French company called Charbonnage de France: 12%. I asked him if he has ever visited Japan and France. Yes, he has, many times and the most interest- ing thing to him was the people. He enjoyed the food and their culture since they have such a different culture. What he liked about France was that they have a very old culture and their history is so much differ- ent from ours and he liked their food. What Mr. Hermann likes best about Tumbler Ridge is the newness, excitement of seeing a town and project growing and the seenery is spectacular. Mr. Hermann's comments are that he's really pleased that we got the newspaper started. He's pleased to see everybody so happy up here and they have so much energy and enthusiasm. Another thing is that you can do what you want to do like go camping and fishing and hunting. So that's what he likes to see - people happy. A very important fact he pointed out is that the whole world is watching what the Canadians are doing here to see if we do a good job and do it on time. M. Stock HAPPY EASTER The staff of The Tumbler Times, Derrick DeMelt, Derek Stock, and Mark Stock, wish you a Happy Kaster.
