As a result, I feel we eed to do everything we can to romote the Tourist Industry in umbler Ridge RIGHT NOW. m Grande Cache we (the citizens) uuld become concerned about uurism as a second industry when e were approaching a bust but a uurist industry cannot be built p overnight. his is not to suggest North East al is going to go through cycles ecause the major mining decisions ave been well thought through and he intimacy of owners being users ives us a greater security than bst mining communities have. bwever, the old saying of "don't wt all your eggs in one basket" still pplies to Tumbler Ridge, if only ecause we are part of a vulnerable knadian economy. I feel we should egin building our tourism industry bw - while the North East Coal roject is getting so much publicity. kople are hearing about us, they're urious about us, they want to see ith their own eyes. WINS QUINTETTE TOURNEY The first Quintette Coaltimers Invitational Oldtimers Hockey Tournament was held at the Dawson Creek Arena March 26 and 27. The three-team tourney was judged to be very entertaining by the sizeable turnout and is likely to become an annual event. Wally's Oldtimers, Quintette Coaltimers and the eventual winners, Dawson Creek R.C.M.P. provided lots of end-to-end action. Saturday, Quintette Coal and R.C.M.P. kicked the tourney off with a rousing 8 to 8 tie. Wally's Oldtimers then fought R.C.M.P. to a 4 to 4 tie ina fast-paced, well played game. The third game of the round robin tourney saw Quintette get the best of Wally's 9 to 6 in a wide-open match. This set the stage foran R.C.M.P - Quintette final Sunday afternoon.
