It was followed by mild, moist air which produced a lot of cloud and threatened us with rain and snow. Cloud cover has a moderating and stabilizing effect on temperatures which accounts for the calm, mild, overcast days in the past week. What's coming? Well.....February came in like a lion (-16°C) and seems to be going out as a lamb (+°C). We seem to be 2-3 weeks premature for the season which leads me to suspect that the beginning of March will be cool and wet (a mixture of rain and snow). I don't expect it will last too long and will again return us to above aver- age temperatures with sunshine in early mid-March. Spring is coming soon! I was here last spring and springtime in the Rockey Mountain Foothills is a thrill I'm looking forward to again. It's noticeably clean and fresh and the sun is quite warm. A work of caution however....the breezes are deceptively cool and could ruin an otherwise beautiful spring with colds and flues. Wx Jack. TUMBLER RIDGE COMMUNITY COMMITTEE The TR Community Committee held its regular meeting Wed., 9 Feb. at the Community Hall. 23 people attended. Robert Wilson reported the latest developments on acquiring a multi- station television dish.(See report on that meeting at top of page) Glenda Radies informed us a dentist will establish a practice in TR on 15 May 1983. A Human Resources person will be here by the end of February. Affordable housing was discussed. This would be a co-op housing project where every member buys a share. John Talbot or Pat Griffin can be contacted for more information (242-4251). Pat Griffin announced the recreation survey will be completed in March. B.C. Hydro has been approached to string lights over the skating rink. A winter carnival may be held during the Easter Holidays. Pat Walsh will attend the next committee meeting. Many of the groups! concerns were expressed and forwarded to Mr. Walsh. The next meeting is a Town Meeting. Please come. Joyce Anderson
